Fun Guys:
It’s been a busy few days … filming with the BBC, out on weekend patrol with Volunteer and Foraging for Fungi!
Friday 6.30 am … met BBC film crew and presenter in Holford to film the deer rut for ‘Escape to the Country’ programme going out next spring. Despite misty conditions we were able to hear stags roaring and watch them holding a rutting stand on the open hill. Should look good on the tellie! Think the film crew from London were suitably impressed with our wild and wonderful hills!
On Sunday morning I met up with Dave Pusill (one of our stalwart volunteers) … we checked the ponies and cattle on Cothelstone Hill. It was a stunning autumn morning and the hill was teeming with visitors, Lydeard Hill car park was totally chocca! People making the most of a glorious sunny weekend before we are thrown into winter again! Dave and I did a litter pick and headed off to Durborough Farm to do a reccy for the afternoon Fungus Foray guided walk. Walking out with Patrick from Exmoor National Park was initially a bit worrying; it’s been so dry that mushrooms were in short supply. However … the walk was wonderful and once people got ‘their eyes in’, there was fungus popping up all over the place!
