Water was also delivered to one other hill resident whose own water supply had frozen up! The ability to get out and about on the quad bike has proved invaluable and allowed access to the hilltops and ensured that the AONB Service herd of Exmoor Ponies on Cothelstone Hill have been checked on a daily basis.
Snow falling over Tuesday night added a further 4” (10cm) of snow depth to the hilltops making driving conditions difficult again for people. However, this recent fall of snow has come from the south west so is wet compared to the drier more frozen conditions we had last week from the continent. Temperatures are forecast to become milder over the period of this week (actually above freezing! ... so conditions should improve.
AONB staff have had to work from home over the last week due to problems with access to Fyne Court and a lack of heating as oil delivery has been impossible. Rangers are scheduled to be out again on patrol over the weekend ... could be the last of the snow??
