DEER COUNT

DEER COUNT On a very cold Sunday morning the Quantock Deer Management and Conservation Group’s (QDMCG) deer count took place.  For several years I have worked with Jochen Langbein to liaise with the many dedicated volunteers to cover 44 areas right across the AONB and with perfect conditions the count got underway at 06:00.

It will take several days to gather in all the results from everyone and then a few more to go through them all making sure there’s no double counting before a final figure can be presented to the QDMCG.  Last year the total was 680 red deer and 39 roe deer.  I’ll keep you posted on how this year unfolds.
